The Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University invites you to join Angela Stent, Senior Adviser to the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies and Professor Emerita of Government and Foreign Service at Georgetown University, as she discusses “Putin’s War: Russia Against the West and With the Rest” on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 12:20 p.m. CT via Zoom.
Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine has united the collective West against it in unprecedented ways, including waves of sanctions and significant military and humanitarian assistance. Yet China and the global South have neither condemned the war nor sanctioned Russia, and the Kremlin’s ties with several of these countries have strengthened since the outbreak of war. Why does much of the rest of the world view Russia’s aggression so differently than those in the West? And what are the implications of this divide for the global order going forward?
