Author Talk: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Clarity\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Dan Faucetta Jr. (IN PERSON & ALSO ON ZOOM, HYBRID) East Hampton Library, East Hampton
Join us for a talk with author Dan Faucetta Jr. discussing his debut novel “Clarity”
The year is 2112. The people of America, now known as Wheels, are regulated and inoculated by the technological creations of a new, singular government. They control minds with ideas of progress. Sadly, society has come to accept its state of oppression with happiness. Everyone works to their expiration for the exoplanetary explorers aboard the spaceship, Triumvirate, meant to establish society on Mars.
My name is Jonah Cullen. At the rotation (age) of 19, I was facing a dilemma in my existence. I wasn’t sure of my purpose, nor if I could live up to the expectations imposed on me. To my luck, I came across a treatment called Clarity. It changed my life. However, this came at a price, which I, and others around me, had to pay. But this struggle helped me to find the strength, ability, and power that I had always desired. These events, and my retrospective thoughts, are laid out in this book, which I hope will help you push through your fight. We struggle, and we do, and that’s a beautiful thing.
Author Bio:
Dan is a New York City-based author. For the past six years, He has had a prolific creative career crafting a multitude of short films, podcast episodes, and finally, a novel. His short screenplay, Challenge Accepted, placed in the 2020 Hollyshorts competition and was a finalist in the 2020 Script Summit competition. He wrote a horror podcast entitled Fear Frequency: The Preternatural Transmissions from X. H. Balthazar; currently available anywhere you get podcasts. It was during the pandemic that he started to calibrate and strengthen his narrative voice and focus it on the darkness of today’s reality. The isolation and loneliness intermingled with the overt, heavy-handedness of governing institutions made him reflect and decided to write his first novel, Clarity.
Besides creating fiction, he is a passionate runner and fitness advocate. In 2021, Dan ran in the 50th Anniversary of the New York City Marathon, for the first time ever, finishing with a time of 3:25:24.
